Welcome to the Buggyworks Lofts

The Buggworks in the Arena District is a personal favorite of mine. Located at 440 West Nationwide Boulevard, the authentic urban lofts are extremely special and rare.

About The Buggyworks

The Buggyworks building was built in 1902 and was once called home by Columbus Buggyworks, the world’s largest builder of horse-drawn buggies. Clearly, the demand for their product declined, and the building was shut down for many years. The Buggyworks Loft Development Corporation then turned the building into 68 loft condominiums in the Arena District at the turn of the century.

The lofts feature exposed brick walls, timber and beam ceilings, tall ceilings, and loft-style windows that let in plenty of natural light. Some units are even lucky enough to have a skylight. All of the original units are sold, and the only way you will buy one is through resale. There are usually a few to choose from, and they all have varying floor plans. There were options to expand or stack the condos at the time of sale, which creates a unique style to many of the lofts.

The lofts range in size anywhere from approximately 650 sq ft for studio-style spaces, with some multiple bedroom lofts reaching up to 2000 sq ft. There are also a few live-work loft opportunities on the first floor of firestone alley. Lofts have recently been selling anywhere from $250,000 to $750,000+. The size, floor, and level finishes can have a big impact on the selling price, along with a few of the top floor units that have their own private rooftop deck in addition to the shared rooftop deck for the building.

Buggyworks Location

The Buggywork Lofts are located right next to Huntington Park, home of the Columbus Clippers )AAA affiliate of the Cleveland Indians).  They are also close to everything the Arena District and Short North area have to offer.  The nearby Express Live holds a lot of popular concerts and you can always catch a Blue Jackets game at Nationwide Arena just down the block, and the new Crew stadium just steps away to the South.  For someone working downtown that wants to experience the nightlife of Columbus, you can’t do much better than this area.

For nature lovers that still want to live in the city, the Buggworks has quick access to the Scioto mile. The Scioto Mile has bike paths and walking trails that lead to many popular parks in the city.

Amenities

The Buggyworks features some incredible amenities for its residents. While there is a relatively high condominium fee, some of these great perks help to offset the cost:

  • Parking: Covered and uncovered parking spaces at the building.
  • Rooftop Deck: Incredibly rooftop deck with great views of downtown and the Red, White, and Boom fireworks.
  • Storage Units: Many of the units come with their own storage units.
  • Fitness: Fitness center available 24-7
