Whether you’re a Columbus native or new to Ohio the Short North is one spot that offers new adventure with each new day. With historic High Street running down its center the Short North is bursting with restaurants, bars, and shops.
If you’re looking for an apartment to rent or a house to own, homes in the Short North come in all shapes and sizes. For those looking to plant roots and grow their families, Goodale Park is within walking distance and offers the perfect backdrop for family picnics and play dates. No matter your age Goodale offers activities throughout the year- movies in the park, music, plays, festivals, and more.
Shopping and Restaurants
Perhaps you’re younger, hoping to simply experience and enjoy the city with friends? From Bernard’s to Pint House to Surly Girl there are numerous happy hours with great deals and atmosphere. Food isn’t hard to come by either- breakfast, lunch, or dinner there’s something for all cravings and times.
Wake up and grab a healthy bite at Northstar Café or Tasi, come back for lunch on a patio at Union, and dress up for a dinner date at
Rigsby’s or The Rossi. Or, for the real foodie, try around the world flavors – a gyro at Happy Greek, a taco from Bakersfield, and sushi at Haiku to start. Your taste buds will certainly never tire.
And once you have consumed your share of calories burn them off walking around the streets lined with stores. Start at Big Fun Toy store for some nostalgia and fun and work your way down through the myriad of galleries. Or for those with a bit more energy to burn, try karaoke at Level or board games at Kingmakers.
Gallery Hop & Events
Can’t make up your mind? Try some of everything the first Saturday of each month at Gallery Hop, a night filled with street performers and open shops to explore. After an hour on the town you may be disappointed it’s only once a month. There are so many boutiques and new restaurants popping up that there is always something new to explore. There are plenty of old stables such as Jeni’s Ice Cream and Press Grill, with many new exciting options like Townhall (Cleveland based) and the Fireproof restaurant. My only suggestion would be to take an Uber, the parking can be a bit challenging.
